Artist's Description

About 90 miles north of Anchorage, sitting in the Talkeetna Mountains, is this little gem - Mint Hut. The trail climbs about 2,900 feet up the valley past beaver ponds, following along the Little Susitna River to it's headwaters, Mint Glacier. At 16 miles round trip (out and back trail), this remains my longest hike.

Behind the cabin lay lush ground with sparkling clear trickles of water dancing in many directions, and granite-spired peaks all around. What a fantastic mid-point for a day's journey.
